SLOWED COOKED MARZANO TOMATO SAUCE

SLOWED COOKED MARZANO TOMATO SAUCE

Ingredients

  • 3x 400g tins of San Marzano (whole) peeled tomatoes 3x 400g tins of San Marzano (whole) peeled tomatoes
  • 2x Red Onion, medium size, sliced thinly into rounds 2x Red Onion, medium size, sliced thinly into rounds
  • 2x Garlic cloves, minced 2x Garlic cloves, minced
  • 50ml Olive oil 50ml Olive oil

Method

  1. Heat olive oil over a low heat, add onions, cook very gently for 45 minutes stirring regularly until they are soft and caramelised.
  2. Add garlic, cook for 1 minute before adding tomatoes. Cook slowly for 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally. The tomatoes will reduce down to a beautiful vibrant deep red coloured, rich, jammy flavour packed sauce.
  3. Season with a little salt to taste if required.Enjoy!
